Horrible weather in Stockholm today.

Thick fog which has persisted all day long from midnight.

Temps began at 0,5° just after midnight and now very mild at 2°c with 100% humidity,

it is just very wet outside and the snow is very slushy. Horrible!

Very sharp temperature contrasts in Sweden right now with a strong polar front just 150 km north of

Stockholm dividing the country into a very cold and mild part.

Temps are now like at -6°c for Gävle 160 km north- and -15°c for Umeå with some light snow, 550 km north of Stockholm.

I really wish that polar front could come down a bit, because this type of weather is just unbearable.

Whats wrong with this site ? I usually find it useful

Its got Milton Keynes at 8.5c me at 5.5c (more like 1c) and others at -0.6c

Hasnt anyone told them you cant take temp readings in direct sunlight ?

http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findwe...uSelect=WEATHER

Here snow still every where but some light melt in the sun as you would expect. No melting of snow out of sun light

Anyway snow everywhere and the sun is out

Rather like a Alpine ski resort

No melting of snow out of the sun (so the 5.5c from that site is a bit silly)

Too much snow around for any grass to appear today

Of course a few weeks time the sun would do more damage more strength each day

I wonder if you could get a tan sitting in the garden all day with the sun and snow reflecting that sun ? At 50ft I doubt it, although told gf to try it and go on the roof at 70ft who knows ?

Its turned into a glorious day here, and I've got all my windows open as its like an oven in here. (I face south, and with the sun gaining more power now the effects are starting to be felt of the strengthening sun).

Anyway, outside:

:) A sparkling, glorious day to be out in the countryside enjoying frozen, snow covered ground. Not often you can walk 5+ miles in the countryside without getting muddy :) !

The minimum this morning was -5.9c and, after some cloud cover until around 09.30, there have been long sunny periods, a gentle NW breeze and a maximum of 4.3c.

A slow thaw throughout the day but several inches of snow cover remain except for on unshaded rooves and roads.

The day started off slightly cloudy but this soon dispersed and the day was mostly sunny with just a few lumps if cumulus floating round. It has felt quite tropical in the sun compared to recent days and this has adided snowmelt. Temp now is -0.2C

Quite a cloudy afternoon here after a sunny morning with a max of 7.3c B) , the cloud has now cleared and within the last hour and a half the temp has dropped from 1.5c to -0.7c so we could be in for a cold one

It was a dry sunny day in Exeter. The second successive Met Office "snow day" with about 2-3cm covering the fields at 9am. There were some showers to the west of here but they never made it this far east. Temperatures reached 5C precipitating a general thaw, so I doubt that tomorrow will qualify as a Met Office "snow day", though there is still a smattering of snow cover.
