Ah, apologies, read it wrong :D

Only about 1-2cm in Cheltenham. Getting slightly heavier but far from a blizzard!

Enough to make it a nuisance for motorists though, who are going very slowly along the snow and ice.

On a trip to Cambridge tomorrow morning; reckon we'll make it?

I can't see it being torrential like nw have forecast between midnight and 3am. Looks like most of the ppn has already gone west.

Looking at the sat images, shouldn't it be moving East?

The strongest winds were always going to be on the southern edge of the Low, but as it wraps around and moves East we should begin to get winds gathering pace from the ENE and later NE before quietening down from the NW, its during this time that the cold air digs south and turns any PPN back to snow (how nice is it to use the words 'back to' and 'snow' in the same sentance). At least thats what I'm led to believe.

And it does seem to be bearing out that way, winds have definately increased and are currently just east of north.

Edit: and the snow is still falling, albeit lightly but it has covered the gaps nicely!

Not sure if this is right, but it seems to me as the low moves east preciptation will shortly be coming from a NE direction for some time, which boads well for this part of the world? Just going by 5 min precip charts, bit new to all this so may be wrong

Hi....

Just looked outside before popping upstairs and its snowing big flakes here.

Dusting over grass and cars....didn't expect any at all to be honest...thought it would miss us!

Not sure if we are in for more overnight or not...kids would love another repeat of last weeks event!

tc all x

I agree, but won't a NE draw of air bring slightly colder conditions in allowing snow to settle faster as well? It is settling ok here, but it was colder the other night and less heavy snow produced more covering

The temp is identical to thurs big event when we got a foot and it is having no trouble settling but ppn is just too light.

Still not as much snow as the last lot yet here though. Looks like there could be later if it continues for few hours at least. Definately going up to the commons around here tomorrow - little thaw today even after hours of rain, prob much more snow falling there now. Lets hope the ppn peps up some more...

I know i sound a little bitter its mainly because that huge green/yellow echo died and pivot round us but im just a little anoyed at bbc ect for calling it a big snow storm when the one they didnt forecast was far better.

All in all it has been fantastic winter so far though.
