Retired Hurricane Names 2008?

I know that a few hurricanes where up for being retired from the names list.

any ideas when the decided on weather its going to be retired or not?

Usually happens during the Spring/Early Summer. I think there is a few very obvious contenders. Gustav, Hanna and Ike I think are pretty much destined for retirement. Other possibles maybe are Arthur, Fay and Dolly though these are much less likely.

Yes, TS Allison of 2001 was the first storm below hurricane strength to be retired. It dumped extremley large rainfall totals along the Gulf coast and caused tremendous amounts of damage and around 60 deaths:

I would be surprised if Arthur or Fay were retired but it can't be ruled out. Fay made 4 landfalls in Florida alone so possibly might be retired just for this reason.

Not as yet, should hear within the next couple months. The decision meeting usually occurs late April.

TC reports have been released for all the storms. The only major change is Omar has been re-analysed as a cat 4 instead of cat 3 that was originally estimated.
