similar here , max 9.7C, the highest since 12 January.

I'll tell you what though, travelling to and from the higher western suburbs of Sheffield over the past 2 weeks does show what part elevation plays.

Today in the city centre no sign of snow, at about 7-800ft, gardens about 40% covered in snow a couple of inches deep with the pavements not reached by the sun still ice covered. People spending Sunday chiiping away at them. By around 1000ft more or less 70% snow cover and by 1200-1500ft around 90% snow cover, still half way up some of the dry stone walls; with a fairly rapid thaw now occurring and water gushing down the roads and fog around 150 metres with drizzle.

Most notable aspect of todays weather has been the temperature - whilst nothing exceptional just above average considering the relative coldness of the last 2-3 weeks it has felt positively pleasant. Must say though the milder air can go away as it has brought a change to downright uninspiring weather - really dislike the current synoptics they just bring 'nothingness'.

Drove down to south Cumbria yesterday, and back up again today.

Lots of snow on the way down - as far as the central Scotland regions (some on the Southern Uplands). Cold too, with that misty stuff you get in cold snowy areas when the temps are a bit above freezing and the snow is starting to thaw. No wildlife, no nothing moving, apart from cars. Huge numbers of buzzards sitting on fence posts, waiting for roadkill dinners.

On the way back today, no snow until Aberdeenshire, with the snow cover increasing the closer to Aberdeen I got. Temps were between 5-8 until I hit Aberdeenshire, when they dropped suddenly to 3 (due to snow melt I guess - the fridge effect). The roads are aswill with snowmelt in places.

So many bunnies grazing on the verges this evening - not seen any bunnies for ages.

Snow in the garden is still a few inches thick where it is undisturbed. Temp around 3.5 currently, max of 7 here today, apparently. Some rain in the evening but mostly just overcast.
