Got caught in a very heavy hail shower in Ottery St Mary about 1:30pm today. the hailstones were surprisingly big and hurt when they hit you even though it was kindof softish hail . some were about 1cm in diameter id guess and the shower deposeted about 1- 2cm on grass and other surfaces at first, more where it piled up against walls. the hail seemed to start big for a few minutes and then get steadily smaller as the shower went on and ended up as fine sleet.

That town seems to like its hail... :unknw:

Just had a good 15 minutes of snow. Didn't settle though, ground too wet.

Well what a drive home that was! Only 8 miles but managed to discover a whole new type of precipitation on the way. The best I can describe it is marble sized grauple or something. Also Lightning, thunder and a near miss on the M1 which was covered in ice despite it being bone dry only half a mile away! Finally got home to discover a nice covering of what looks like the big soft hail type stuff. Interestingly at one point I was literally right on the edge of the shower with heavy "grauple" on one side of the road, and nothing on the other- no kidding.

After about fifteen minutes of rain and hail, it snowed for about twenty minutes in the centre of Bristol shortly after 4pm and settled slightly on cars but otherwise everything was already too wet.

A couple of light snow showers today, only lasting a couple of minutes each- could see anvil clouds off to the northwest and heavy-looking showers of something to the south this afternoon.

Had a couple of snow showers here around 4pm which left a dusting on the grass.

A better covering just up the road in consett. :)

Heavy snow/sleet here at the moment. A good covering even though the ground was wet from the heavy hail that we have had. Looking at the radars the heavy stuff is circling around the Barnstaple area but isn't moving anywhere, just circling.

Can't believe my eyes. Very heavy overnight snow here. At 3 am I was up to put the heating on and we had about 8inches on the ground. Some of that has reduced so it's about 4 to 5 inches now but a wonderful winter scene and, hopefully, no school!

Light snow cover here, everything coated in a very sticky snow. Looks to have snowed for a few hours but sleet now.

Heavy snow has been falling here in central south Dorset for a few hours. Weymouth was cut off according to the radio a few minutes ago. A37 Dorchester to closed as well. Here at Winfrith we have about 4- 6 inches on the ground. Not bad for aweather station a mere 45 metres above sea level and within 3 miles of the channel coast.

Light snow showers during the early hours have given the lightest of light dustings.

Very surprised at the amount of snow here on the coast, several inches overnight. The roads weren't gritted again so deep slush on the roads outside, my other half won't be happy as he had the day off anyway!

An unexpected snowfall here in Hampshire this morning seems like the last 19 winters have turned up this year :drinks:

Overnight snow has left approx 10cm on all surfaces, bit of a shock that one.
