Maybe the dewpoint is too high? At 3.5C thats kind of borderline anyway for temps, best if its 3C or below. For snow the dewpoint needs to be at 0C or below. Theres an excellent guide written by John Holmes here:

indeed but air temp isn't the only thing. More important is a low dewpoint, wet bulb temp and the 850hpa temps in the atmosphere etc. Like I said have a read of Johns guide.

For example, its chilly up here today, the temp is just 2.9C but its still raining, why? Because the dewpoint is still above freezing at 1.9C, but , later on this evening, when the dewpoint drops, it will turn to sleet and snow.

Not enough evaporating cooling, although having a dewpoint below 0.c does increase your chance for snow you can have snow falling with dewpoints well above freezing, begining of march saw a heavy prolonged snow shower with a dewpoint of 3.9c and a temp of 4.3c, this type of scenario is more common in spring than in winter.

Very wet here today with a max of 6c and a strong northerly wind, hope the better weather for next week materialises as we had only 2 days last week when it dried up enough to sow barley. It must be nearly 9 months since I last saw dust in the fields and apart from those two dry days last week and the frosty midwinter spells we have been walking around in mud on the farm for the whole of that time. The ski slopes must have caught a lot of fresh snow though!!!!

After a day of sunshine and showers things have calmed down this evening with clear skies after sunset. The result being a lingering twilight to 7pm - with the clocks move it'll be 8pm next week under any clear skies - fantastic, the light season is upon us at last!

6.8c under clear skies at mo- gonna get chilly.

Soft hail today in some heavy showers

Sleet (in the heavy showers) is forcast for tomorrow

Too much wind for frost in most places

Max of 9c but felt colder in the wind and I guess 2/3 drop in the heavy showers

Well I've managed to miss all the showers today which was a bit of a shame really and with high pressure invading on us yet again with boring sunshine next week, we need to get some of those showers that were down south - up north a bit further. It is now cold at 4.3C after a high of 9.1C.

Dew points should start falling off quite quickly after midnight, starting off in NW Ireland.

Drove to Coventry late afternoon in sunny periods arriving 8 o clock. Line of nasty showers just south of the A40 and the Brecon area.

A clear cool evening here in Coventry.

A distinctly chilly day in the blustery NW/W winds although we managed to escape with a mainly dry day, one or two showers at times more so this evening.

A predominantly cloudy day aswell.

I think we will catch one or two beefy showers tomorrow morning/lunchtime possibility of some sleetiness or even one or two wet snowflakes in them but not expecting anything noticeable. thereafter it looks like the shower activity will die down, so a lovely clear albeit cold evening is likely, with a moonlit night and sharp frost tomorrow ... Expect the snowline on the lakeland fells to be quite low around 400m by the afternoon.. great thing is that we will have a dry and clear day on Sunday to enjoy viewing them.
