the first air frost this morning since the 6th of this month, down to -1.8C but already at 4.9C, clear blue skies and very little wind so coffee break may be possible with a top on outside this morning.

It has been another rather windy night; which has prevented the temperature falling below 3.5c. At observation, overcast with a light shower, feeling chilly in the wind. Feeling cold throughout the day with a few brief wintry showers of soft hail and rain, the showers were light and insignificant at this location, but there were much heaver showers only a short distance away in the valley. There were also a few sunny spells. Maximum temperature 8.9c, maximum wind gust 29mph, NNW. The evening quickly became cold and frosty under a clear sky.

As a reminder, for anyone interested I am producing audio forecasts on my site, these cover Burton and surrounding area, which cover a good area of the Midlands. To hear the latest forecast, click on the link at the bottom of the page.

Light snow showers early this morning gave 0.5cm of lying snow, the only lying snow this month here. By 0900 g.m.t more than half of it had thawed in the late March sunshine. An overnight min' of -1.4c.

Almost cloudless earlier but a few cumulus developing now.

Not as cold as expected as it was quite cloudy at 1am (well 2am) when I was coming home last night. Min of 3c.

It's now partly sunny with temp of 6.2c.

Into British Summer Time at last and the return of decent amounts of light into the early evening again. The light season is finally here!

Very sunny (now unbroken) with light winds now 12.4c the max today. Lovely spring day - something I've said alot this month!

Been a really nice March overall when it can so easily be such a grim month (thinking back to parts of March 2006 - cold and cloudy period with little 'weather' and not pleasent at all either).

post-6830-1238341207_thumb.jpg Nice visible sat pic, shows the frontal system making slow in roads to the west of the uk, with fair weather cumulus over eastern ,southeastern England and some showery activity over the nearby continent associated with that thick blob of cloud [low pressure system] over Switzerland. :)

Yes a stunning day here, wall to wall sunshine from a very clear and deep blue sky, just a very light wind, temperature maxed out at near 10c, this would suit me for the rest of the summer.
