We had the first air frost here since 14th February last night, with a min temp of -0.1C. This could well be the last of the season.

The day has been completely clear and sunny with a maximum temperature of 8.5C. It felt very pleasant out of the wind.

The day was dry and almost cloudless with unbroken sunshine, despite this there were still a few small patches of snow remaining in the shade by 1800 g.m.t.

Clear skies which allowed unbroken sunshine from around 14.00 helped the temperature to reach 11.6c. The same clearness has allowed the temperature to plummet after sunset as at present it's 3.8c with 53% humidity.

A gorgeously sunny day here today from start to finish, after a slight fros though - the temperature fell to 0.3C last night and perhaps lower tonight. The temperature maxed out 9.6C but out the wind it felt very nice!

A cracking day in the Lake District - I was staying overnight nr shore of Brotherwater and it was very cold first thing - probably about -4 or -5 last night. Took a while for the frost to thaw and whilst walking there were plenty of icy patches still. Fantastic blue skies and wall to wall sunshine with the snow on the higher eastern aspects it looked alpine in character - can't beat days like this in the lakes, wonderful! Was a cold day mind in the wind max of only 8 degrees which is quite low given we saw hardly any cloud indicative of the cold uppers we have been sat under.

Turned chilly again quickly this eve however the cloud is set to roll in overnight preventing a frost.

Pity the snow is going to dissapear tomorrow but hopefully it'll be back again before April is out.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
