Oh dear...the dreaded so-called thundery rain which turns out to be just rain with perhaps a single rumble if your lucky :D ......noooooooooo thank you.

"Thundery rain" from my experience of watching forecasts usually means an area of frontal rain with embedded thunderstorms. On occasion it can deliver significant thundery activity- the localised storm over Exeter on the 6th June this year was a good example. But I generally find that "thundery rain" for most amounts to just the odd rumble or two, one major reason being that since the rain is partly frontal-based rather than being purely convective, cloud cover is high and so the sun cannot initiate convection through strong surface heating.

Ironically if they say "thundery showers", even though you are more likely to miss the rain, you probably stand more chance of seeing a big thunderstorm because showers tend to have sunshine in between leading to stronger surface heating.

South-west England actually stands a decent chance of seeing thunderstorms on each of the next four days as showers develop over western France and head north, and some are projected to run up the western side of England. However I think the thunderstorms will be quite well scattered, perhaps Wednesday may be the peak day.

I've lost all hope, especially when it is forecast for us, then I know we're doomed :D

Ditto here SB1. We missed out on a couple of severe storms a few weeks ago by only 4-10 miles and another by 2 miles.

Indeedy. Since moving to Derbyshire, i've noticed we seem to miss quite a few storms, snow showers etc. Probably the devil in the location (although i'm guessing ppn in the winter around your way tends to be more wintry then us on lower ground).

However, the positive is that when the sun shines, it shines well.

Still nowt happened today, and looking quite dry out there.

Hoping for something this week, as i've just put my third lot of grass seed down this spring/summer (although i've now used some sort of pushy nail contraption I borrowed off my old man). All I want is some nice grass to enjoy the thunderstorms and snow on
