Chilly start after a low of 7.8c it's now 8.9c. Strong chilly wind with a lot of low cloud around - but already some fleeting glances of sunshine so am more confident it will lift today.

After a clear night with a touch of ground frost, (grass minimum –0.4c) low cloud rolled in to the area from the north-east making for an overcast and rather chilly start. At observation, becoming a little brighter with signs of the low cloud thinning.

Wind Direction: Force 3 NE.

Yesterday 17th April 2009

Another cloudy and damp morning up to observation, after more rain overnight. The morning stayed cloudy and rather cool feeling in the fresh NE wind. The cloud gradually cleared during the afternoon allowing lengthening spells of hazy sunshine. The temperature responded quickly, rising to a maximum of 15.1c. Maximum wind gust 28mph, East.

A cold, cloudy and windy start, the temp' currently 4.6c after a min' of 3.1c.

Mean wind speed is 22 mph NE and the sun is just beginning to break through the stratus.

Bit of cloud around blocking the sun out now and again, currently (well still) 10.3c as its been for the last 24hours or so, bit of a breeze too which is knocking the temps slightly, but at least the rain/drizzle of the last day has gone.

A lovely morning here, blue skies and plenty of sunshine and thankfully less wind compared to the past three days so feeling much more pleasant.

Expecting temps to get to about 14-15 degrees so very nice and that the sun will last all day meaning quite a cold night ahead with touch of frost.

Tomorrow is looking a repeat performance, so once again another cracking weekend for the Lake District - we are doing very well with the weather at the moment, this is the 8th consecutive day with not a single drop of rain!

Still a bit more cloud around as the BBC where claiming yesterday, its a bit more like what they where saying eariler in the week that the cloud will eventually clear but might not be until the evening rather than from about 9am as they said yesterday (not seen a forecast today)

Presently 13.1c, not blue skys although the sun is poking its head through now and again. Still fairly breezy.
