9.9

Lol, is this a competition to see who can go the lowest, having said that, if May sees many days with suppressed maximums much like this, then it would certainly be a possibility, not even managed double figures here today.

Slightly above average lets say 11.5 degrees, quite a topsy turvy month, perhaps with one notable warm/very warm spell later in the month, but I also expect some quite cold weather at times courtesy of cold cyclonic conditions very muck on a par with today.

A word on May itself it is by far my favourite month of the year, it can deliver the best weather of the year in my book, that first proper warm spell and with everything in fresh growth splendour and the still ever increasing daylight - it can be amazingly superb, June comes a very close second mind!

11.6 for me. High pressure will dominate, giving sunny, dry conditions and temps in the high teens during the day. Cooler nights (4's to 6's) due to clear skies will keep the average down to marginally above average.

1.3C above average, so a warm one, though not quite the homogenous mild/warmth of the last 10 weeks.

I'll go for a 11.5C. I don't want overly nice May, summer needs to last until September this year!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
