With the team now on their way to the USA and likely to be chasing from the word go when they land, the action is likely to start fast and keep coming during this year's chase.

For the first time, the teams will be streaming throughout the chases live onto Netweather, so starting later today, you can follow the action as it happens.

As well as the live coverage, there will be daily briefings, video diaries and more available during the chases.

Looking forward to this! I watch TVN live video streams as well, would be funny if both NetWeather and TVN crossed paths live on stream

It's a bug in the twitter feed - if you refresh the page you'll see I've binned it and replace it with a different one now

Hi Paul, I can't wait for the live streaming. Will it be up and running this evening? Also will there be anyway of knowing where exactly the team are with a GPS position similar to the severe studios chase cam set up?

    Thanks.

Hi C, the live streaming should be good to go tonight if they decide to chase. We won't have GPS tracking in place initially, but it may be something we setup during the chase.

    Hello Paul,

Do you now what time (UK) you will be looking to start the streaming?

    Cheers

They'll start the streaming as soon as they can, if they decide to chase, if not they may still stream from the hotel as there is the likelihood of a decent lightning show this evening.

I would imagine the earliest they get everything up and running will be around 11.30 this evening (UK time).

The team are on the road and currently live streaming, very good quality too, almost like being with them, and something looks to be brewing right now, great stuff.

Well done Paul and all the team for getting this on to Net weather.

I believe the sound will be switched on when the action begins.

Just a thought, is it me or are they driving on the left!

As per the message on the page:

    How will the streaming work?

The team have mobile internet within the chase vehicles enabling them to stream live video back to Netweather, internet coverage in the mid-west is good, but it isn't perfect so there will be periods where the stream does drop out but please be patient as it will reconnect as soon as coverage returns.

Much of the time there will be no sound on the stream, but on occasion the team will activate this to provide you with an update on what is happening. Every morning the team will also broadcast their daily briefing, giving their chase targets and the general forecast for the day - this will occur at around 8-9am US time, so approx 2-3pm UK time. We'll also save this briefing so that if you miss it, you can replay it later in the day.

As well as the live coverage, daily video highlights, chase diaries and also unseen highlights from the 2008 chases will be available for you to watch - so stay tuned for all the latest action + plenty of other items to keep you entertained while the team aren't chasing.

FANTASTIC!!! It's mesmerising watching them bomb down the highway. It should be boring but it's strangely compelling. (cider helps)

Great job guys, this is addictive!

Just to add to the above - the team have a switch they can use now, so they will update it every time they switch the stream on or off - when the stream is on you will see an orange banner across the top of every page on the site (not the forum), and next to the player it will say 'Live Stream status: Online', so if you're seeing just the spinning disc, refresh the page and see if they've switched off. If they haven't then they're just in an area without a good internet connection and will re-connect as soon as the signal improves.

    Hi all,

Just to keep you up to date. We're not currently chasing but we will be on our way shortly. If you want to follow us we will be going from Decatur onto Highway 380 to Aspermont then Highway 83 to Childress. There is a possibility of supercells forming in this area so we will be in chasing distance if this is the case. We're planning to stay in Childress overnight.

    Bye for now

    Tammy

If you want any alcohol tonight, you better buy some now, because Childress is in a dry county, lol. Though you'll probably be too tired to be bothered anyway.

    Good luck and have fun.
