Well where do I start with today! My initial Target was Matador or Paducah in the SE Texas Panhandle and this bore us fruit on this day, we even had Lunch in Plainview which got a Cone Tornado later that day on the road we Stopped On to watch Initiation on the Dryline. Made a decision to target the East Storm but it was a seriously Tough choice not to head West for the Plainview cell. We Intercepted the Cells near Paducah and then dropped back South for the Rampaging Plainview Storm that was munching everything in its Path. Got back to Paducah when the Tornado Sirens went on and observed Wrapping Rain Curtains and Strong RFD, Bailed out on this and lucky we did as the Town has suffered Extensive Damage with Houses that have Windows Blown Out. We headed East and observed 2 Funnel Clouds that made it halfway down to the Ground just East of Paducah, then Core Punched the Northern Supercell which gave us a few scary moments with Cg Bolts raining down around the car, but the guests were loving it :) Finally got back West of the Storm Complex and the guys witnessed some of the most incredible Lightning ever (And It is Close to topping my all time best as well) Amazing Anvil Crawlers and Spectacular Cg Lightning. If you like my Cg Pictures you aint seen nothing yet, John H got some Incredible Shots and some of the best I have ever seen out here.

I really enjoyed todays Chase but the One mistake I made was not targeting the Plainview Storm when it was only 20 Miles away, all the guys asked me if i was on my own what Storm would I choose, and I said Plainview, but we did see a few Funnel Clouds and were extremely Close to the Tornadic Circulation.

One last thing just wait to see some of John H pics of the Lightning, you will not believe some of the shots

Some stunning lightning photos there, looking forward to the others. A 3 day wait for a proper chase - but well worth the wait.

Certainly ended up in the best area for supercells.

Amazing pictures there, John. That is lightning to die for...well, photographically, not literally!

Glad you guys stayed safe. It certainly seemed to be going wild as things were kicking off. Hope you manage to spot an elusive twister today.

Good luck

Peter

Have to agree with paul, them photos are absolute beautys!

Keep em coming guys. If i'm allowed i think i'll go on the trip next year, it will help me to overcome thunderstorms (I love them) but since a kid i have been very scared of the lightning as i nearly took a direct hit once. (Fishing)
