A cool start for May, minimum air temperature 2.5c, the grass minimum 0.3c, so just missing a ground frost. Bright though with hazy sunshine and in complete contrast to the previous few days, calm up to observation. A dry and warm day followed, though with large amounts of high and mid level cloud making the sun hazy, but still feeling pleasant. A notable fresh NE wind commenced during the early evening, making for quite a breezy end to the day. Maximum temperature 18.3c, top wind speed, 20mph, NE.

A nice morning here with clear blue skies, clear air but a strong breeze. A bit like periods last week only the wind is in the opposite direction! Feels cooler though - as it always does when the east wind blows - but much clearer air. No problem with this sort of weather IF we don't get blighted by low cloud which is always the risk with anything that comes from the east.

Be nice if it turned south of east too - be good to see the odd higher maximum now we're in May.

It's very nice when there is no breeze but then it hits you and it feels a lot cooler in it.

Chillier last night at 4.8c,this morning started sunny,then some low cloud for a time now wall/wall sun and a fresh east wind where it catches as here it`s calm and out of the wind at 14c now.

Trouble with this wind direction is we're getting no ventilation in the room at all - we face south west so the air is still but the sun is roasting the room! Still beats a gale blowing in the window as it does when we get westerly winds.

:o Gloriously clear, warm and sunny with a strong, gusty Easterly wind. The temperature is 17.0c and humidity 46%.

I know some are conmplaining about the wind, but it's pretty rare to have unbroken sunshine and such wind at the same time so is good to experience.

[Evening thunder]

Lovely day here with unbroken sunshine, clear blue skies and feeling warm and very pleasant despite the breeze. warmest day of the year currently 19.4C (warmest so far today) and we seem to be just about the warmest place in the country.

It is just so nice out side at the moment..sunshine, perfect shade of blue sky against the fresh greens of the newly leafed trees and a lovely warmish breeze.

I could do with this all summer.. Shame its all got to change!
