I just lucked out and as it was throwing out some pretty rapid Cg's got my Tripod out and Set the Camera to F22 With an ISO Of 200. Then got the shot on a 1 Second Exposure.

some of the CGs were very severe....

Unforunately uploading causes the resolution to diminsh....

Is that taken on a mobile phone with 120fps recording?

My phone does that so i'll have to give it a go :whistling:

Amazing photos today, again some of the best i've seen.

We should put together a gallery and have a competition after this is over, there's been some brilliant photos this year. :)

I chased the South Tx Panhandle like the team. The aim was to get some nice structure shots and hopefully a tornado before a mad 1000 mile journey to Illinois for possible tornadoes the next day.

Firstly, the CU started to bubble. Very Pretty....

post-1731-1242275507_thumb.jpg

Unfortunately, it turned into a ghastly outflow dominant 'mess', but with lots of spin ups, blowing dust, gustnadoes, whatever you want to call them. Quite cool to be in I'd imagine but I was taking shots from a distance so not my cup of tea...

post-1731-1242275545_thumb.jpg

I went to Caprock Canyons to see if a change of scenery might make the storms more appealing.... Nope....

post-1731-1242275571_thumb.jpg

I call it a day and head to Illinois, via the I40 and I44 thinking I may be able get some after dark lightning shots. The storm here didn't inspire me with hope looking like it was on it's last legs.

post-1731-1242275602_thumb.jpg

Nice rainbow, starting to illuminate a little mammatus.

post-1731-1242275618_thumb.jpg

Mammatus becoming more pronounced as the sun sets.

post-1731-1242275641_thumb.jpg

Full anvil of mammatus, with rainbow.

post-1731-1242275657_thumb.jpg

That skinny little updraft is making a go of it, now the sun can see it under the anvil!

post-1731-1242275675_thumb.jpg

It erupts through the existing anvil and soon becomes the dominant cell outside of Texas.

post-1731-1242275691_thumb.jpg

Updraft fully established.... the sort of structure I was after all day!

post-1731-1242275706_thumb.jpg

One final shot of the mammatus field from the newly invigorated cell.

post-1731-1242275727_thumb.jpg

The lightning was absolutely nuts with this cell. As I was wanting to get as far east as possible, I did almost no lightning photography, but hopefully the dash cam has plenty of stuff to share. The only time I did stop to shoot lightning, a police officer pulled up and told me that someone had reported taht there was a disabled person needing assistance in my car.... not sure what that was about!

I also did some shortish length time lapse of the grungy first storm, and the two mammatus fields so expect a video to come soon, once I've processed all the pics into a managable format

I hope you enjoy!!
