After a night of very heavy rainfall, the day started off dry but punctuated by heavy showers. Currently in the heaviest shower of the day and the first thundery one as well. Temp briefly rose to 16C but shot down again in the current rain. No sunshine at all today.

Cloudy and wet and to be honest, it just felt darn miserable, rain was never too heavy but not a day too remember thats for sure.

Hopefully tomorrow will be an improvement.

Continuous rain since 10am, although it has eased in intensity over the past couple of hours, now awaiting the thundery outbreaks which are currently affecting Cheshire and Merseyside to head our way later this evening - total rainfall totals for today could be quite high - we've had nearly 2 and half inches this month already.. in what is normally with March and April our driest month.

Are you sure you wouldn't prefere 16C with light winds and clear blue skies at this time of year :)

Bah humbug! I absolutely love wind, rain and fog during 'summer'.

Light-moderate rain all this morning due to slow moving showers. The rain cleared during the early afternoon and it was dry and rather humid for a couple of hours with the sun just showing through. More showers moved up from the south by late afternoon and there was a thunderstorm to the east between 1650 and 1740, of course we missed the best of it and there was only an hour or so of light-moderate rain here.

A foggy start here with a very light east wind, things seem to change rather differently as the low crossed, soon shifted that low cloud as the sun came out but I was in Shrewsbury.

Very heavy showers here it seems and a total of 22mm now just after another very heavy shower which pepped up as it hit max of 14.2c now 8.9c,and a cooler west wind now.

Much cooler and fresher this evening (although humidity still at 83%) with a blustery WSW wind and the sky clearing after a showery afternoon/early evening, the current temperature is 9.3c which is the first time below double figures since Tuesday first thing.

My brother has reported thunderstorms/power cut in the Sheffield/Doncaster/Nottingham region.

Spell of rain last night between about 02-0300. Sunny intervals much of the morning and it felt mild and rather humid, with very little breeze. A different picture for the afternoon- cloudy and became cool, with prolonged showers which were very heavy at times. The breeze was a mainly gentle SWer.

Meanwhile in Aberystwyth, 20 miles north of here, there were no more than a few spots during the afternoon. Showers finally died out by 1930, with clearing skies this evening.

Tony, I've just checked my weather station & the reading of 6.2c really surprised me, was going to ask how cold it could get if the sky stays clear.

Warmest part of the day temp 7.9C.

lol says it all really, atrocious conditions here for most of the day with some very heavy rainfall this evening lasting for almost 5 hours, rivers near breaking point and my sky satellite signal was dead so no league one play off game

Those saying we would miss most of the rain must feel very silly now, we've had way too much already.

about 14 hours of rain here gave me 20.4mm so more like 27-28mm around here

presume there was a lightning strike fairly close by here as no pc web site from 1901 until just returned, storm over town about that time, just another 0.8mm since the rain stopped late afternoon.

certainly the most rain for a long time 5.8mm one day last month being the previous highest this year.
