13.9c the max today - pretty horrible really for June. A little hazy sunshine earlier but mostly grey & breezy. Certainly a lot less people outside enjoying themselves this weekend - back to sitting indoors again!

Gladly it ain't raining anymore and looks like it'll stay dry to go out this evening.

Bone dry and sunny spells today, with more sun than cloud here in the far east.

Not warm, but pleasant enough to work in the garden in a Tee Shirt most of the day.

Sorry that many others are having a bad day,I just hope the forecast is as wrong for this area for tomorrow as it was today.

A cool, wet morning, the rain heavy at times, eventually clearing around 1315 g.m.t to leave a cool, cloudy and breezy afternoon. 31.9 mm of rain in the 24 hours up to 1800 g.m.t and 10.6mm from 0900-1800 today.

It's been a decidedly cool June day with a max' of 10.4c which, providing it doesn't get any higher by 0900 tomorrow, will be the coolest June day here since 1999. Still a long way short of the record low June max' at this site of 7.4c on the 6th in 1985.

At 1800 g.m.t;

Temp', 9.0c

Max' today, 10.4c

Min' last night, 5.3c

Grass min', 5.5c

Rainfall from 0900-1800, 10.6 mm

Sunshine today so far, nil

Mean wind speed, 17 mph E

Highest gust today, 37 mph E at 1515 g.m.t

P.S I notice from the net weather radar accumulation that the Exeter area has had around 85-90mm of rain in the last 24 hours, can anyone confirm this; TWS perhaps?

Make no doubt about it, today for some parts of the country notable Wales, SW England and West Midland and parts of Ireland is a shockingly poor one indeed for June.

Well, there was a localised but pretty intense thunderstorm overhead at 8-9am this morning, with lightning strikes in the close vicinity well into double figures, and some very loud overhead thunder. Today in Exeter has been insane for the intensity of the rainfall- at about 7:30pm it was as intense as during the thunderstorm. But seems to be clearing a bit now.

Interesting, I think youve had far more rain me today as we got no rain from the localised thunderstorm over Exeter and quite a lot of the very heavy rain in the early afternoon went just to the west of here.

Apparently thunder was heard here from that storm but I was asleep! unusually late for me as well!

The rain has just about cleared here now and it was quite a dramatic clearance with torrential rain here but clear slightly sunset coloured sky to the south with rainfall streaks moving infront of it.

Rainfall total here today: 30.2mm

Current temp: 10.6C

The max temp today was 13.6C at 8:24am this morning!

Just noticed your post. It wouldn't surprise me- it rained pretty much all day, and at times (notably for a couple of hours in the morning, when that localised thunderstorm hit, and again in late evening) the intensity was akin to what one might expect from a major convective storm. Except that whereas convective storms tend to be short-lived, this continued on and off through the day.

A pretty driech day on the face of it, but also a notably interesting one for the Exeter area. Even more remarkable, the radar accumulation suggests that around 60mm fell in 12 hours!

A few more mm rain (a cert should think tonight)- and it will be the wettest day since we moved here in 2005 (41mm is the record).
