Nothing here

Though what was funny - colleague opened the office door earlier, and this gust came through that made both here and another colleage yelp! lol - was quite funny!

Quite surprised MetO haven't gone orange around the coast of Hants and W Sussex - not necessarily saying the conditions warrant it (as discussed many a time previously) but I'd have thought it would be in line with their current system.

Apart from a light-ish shower about an hour or so ago. It's all quiet here in Solihull.

Tuesday night, and as AJPoolshark mentioned in the last Convective/Storm discussion topic, there was a cell which didn't seem to move for hours on Tuesday evening and on Tuesday night at 11:20pm, it absolutely hammered it down for a good 40 minutes yet on the METO radar, it looked pretty innocuous. (But no thunder!)

Yesterday with what looked promising from mid morning onwards with clouds building rapidly... Just a moderate shower at around 3pm, dried off and just before dark it rained moderately again for I can't remember how long as I was watching the footy on ITV. (Still no thunder!!)

But today does look somewhat more promising but I think more in a sense of sharp showers rather than Tstorms. Some pretty large cumulus building as I type. Watch this space. (I don't mean literally, will make your eyes go funny otherwise!)

Phil.

I'm hoping for you - because while I am in London, whatever you get I am likely to get hit by

Suddenly from blue sky to a torrential downpour and high winds here in Burgess Hill, drains can't cope.

Just had a small shower with about 5 seconds worth of hail!

I can see your shower Coast, looks a nice little one! :) I can also see some quite tall Cu over the coast to my South and southwest which if it grows could turn into storms as they jog along the coast!

Have a Question for anyone who is in the know on Dewpoints etc

Q. Why is Southend 12c and City of London 4c on the Dewpoints - This has me and Paul M Baffled atm ??

James the NMM Model shows the last dregs of the CZ Exiting that area and points East of there at 8-9pm, so might be worth a sniff

big towers to the south, but we are in a dry slot in the middle oh well, least it's sunny

Hmm, nothing of note here. Under some pretty dark clouds from time to time, including now, but little seems to be coming of them.

Good news though, is that there was another funnel cloud - that's 4/5 now in the space of 5 days...nice!!

Ahem, you are in a better location than me - lol! I think the CZ has only really initiated across S Hants/Sussex atm - according to forecasts this is likely to extend into Kent a bit later - be patient sir  ...me, I'm not looking to get anything again

Am surprised though the showers in EA don't seem to have lived up to what was forecast - unless more can be expected later this afternoon into the evening.

Much less humid in London and the city is on the southern edge of the north flank of showers - I have not had a single shower today and seem to be stuck on the northern edge of a 20-30 mile band of clear sky.

Having said that, I can see some big towers shooting up to the north and on the horizon to the south.

Don't think it'll hurt to post this in here..

http://www.astoncomprehensive.com/index.ph...es/111-flooding

That's the result of the rain/hail that we had yesterday. The school is 1/2 a mile away, practically on the top of a hill, so you can imagine what it was like down at the bottom of it here..

Oh dear - there are new cells appearing in quite a few locations but all appear either weak at present, or significantly weakened over the last half hour.

A low level wind convergence zone is expected to set up affecting a region roughly from the Isle of Wight through to Kent which is expected to spark some convective activity.

Excellent call that Brickfielder.

That is from the Sea Breeze Convergence down there Harry.

Take a look at the Winds in the local area, NW Over Land and South West Sea Breeze from the Sea.Paul S

The convergence began in the second half of the morning over South Wiltshire and, as the WNW wind has increased over land (which it has here along with almost unbroken sunshine), it's been pushed further towards the South coast. I really appreciate the NW Extra facilities on days like this  . Around half an inch of rain just inland from the South coast in the last 3 hours or so!
