I remember a summer day back around mid to late 80`s at least it felt like a summer day when heavy thundery showers came from a NW-ly direction and it surprised me so much so memorable, as it was the first time it ever happened from that direction, and morning with it also started from around 10.30 onwards as it was a rather fresh day,as a shower has passed then turned thundery, the others well scattered clouds were nothing that remarkable really, looked just like typical summer showers.

I`m posting this chart but I havn`t a clue when it was,the upper air looks too cool but it`s possible,It seemed earlier than 1989 though, does anybody know what date I`m going on about.

Can't help you I'm afraid- the summers of 1985-88 all had cool north-westerlies for a fair percentage of the time, and although those summers were notoriously dull and wet there will have been bright showery days in between the rain belts.

It could`ve even of been this date,or even been a weekened actually as I would`ve been in school just shows I havn`t a clue :diablo: but there were thunderstorms on this particular day and it looks an intruiging chart.

I should of added it felt very much like a day like today, light winds and clouds coming from the NW.

There may have been a Cold Front or a few troughs moving through on an unstable W/NWly flow which in the summer months would bring thundery potential due to the strength of the sun.

This was a straight NW-ly,I`ve seen a few cold fronts setups bringing a band of thundery showers when it`s already warm and sticky not lately mind, but as this was already a fresh day it stood out for me, I`ve only seen 1 other day like it since but that was that bit warmer, from the same direction.
