Nasty looking towers to my north, and haven'y felt it this humid in a looooong time. Here's hoping for a fun afternoon!

Yes, they cells look beautifull with brilliant white tops. I am at work in Wythenshawe and they look a fair distance from here.

I don't like this westerly breeze that has developed here in the last hour. It is pushing everything away.

FWIW, UKMO Nae model breaks out heavy convective precipition in the London and areas SE of it today!

Do any of you use the sferic chart http://andvari.vedur.is/athuganir/eldingar ???

It uses UKMO Atd data :D

I notice UKWW has no warnings out Dave

do your lot know something the rest of the UK seems oblivious to I wonder?

The air to the SW and S at the moment looks pretty settled, only a few fair weather clouds

Very dark over towards the hills. Looks like missing here and probably heading sheffield way.

Plenty of time yet though for some action

Nice storm passed to our west around 11:30 then flowed back over us (as it grew) leaving us in the middle of a hail storm (3 to 4mm?) yet remained sunny over on Sowerby hillside throughout.

Looking like it could get very interesting esp. as the outflow was 180 degrees opposed to the general cloud movement (funnel clouds??).

Have fun folks :D

Towers starting to rise here in Erith, now.

I am surprised the SE hasn't seen many storms this year

It's usually the place to be

I hope you get a storm just as much as I hope I Don't

Looking at the radar, there's something brewing off the Lizard and with the wind direction looking favorable, could the Plymouth shield be broken for the 1st time in nearly 3 years????

As far as i'm aware, we don't really issue watches/warnings for scattered TS's unless there's a real risk of something severe, i.e tornadoes, lots of +ve strikes, strong conv gusts etc.

Looking at the storm map 'slight risk' is a bit less far spread and Eastern than i would have hoped. Although thunderstorms covers most of the UK... it doesn't cover London and the general SE area.

Areas N or W of London have CAPE over 1,000 and decent LI values...Apparently NO risk??!

I Guess anyone could get lucky today though  Especially anyone around East Anglia

I'm still waiting for this pesky high cloud to clear, but i have noticed on the sat. rapid convection as soon as the cloud clears, if not before

Yup - that milky high stuff disappears almost at the same time that convection kicks off. Can't help but feel the SE will see something today, but it will probably be limited to North Downs and northward - I'd guess that the Medway River is probably the cut-off point and anywhere south and east of that is likely to not see much at all.

Waiting for and am very interested in the 12z Herstmonceaux ascent, though; if that shows good instability, then just about anywhere will have a chance.
