At last some light rain here,everywhere here the ground like concrete with cracks appearing,as a gardener much as i appreciate how most love dry and sunny conditions for leisure ect gardens in this area in real need of rain,not meant to amount to much before a return to dry and settled conditions.

A poor summers day, raining when I got up at 7.30am, and it never relented until around 5pm, quite heavy at times aswell - that is at this 9 and half hours of continuous rain!, it certainly has topped up the River Kent which by the evening was looking very full in Kendal.

We have since had a sharp shower which didn't last long. Lovely interesting skies this evening watching the clouds suddently billow and bubble up and then in a flash the blue sky pierce through, you can tell it is fresher polar air out there now as opposed to the horrid mild tropical maritime stuff we had yesterday evening and this morning with its uniform dull grey skies, today reminded me how poor our summer weather can be when we are stuck under fronts and a moist mild maritime source, lets hope we don't get many more such days of same ilk this summer, at least it hasn't been a weekend day.

Tomorrow has potential to produce some very sharp beefy showers...
