Meanwhile some parts of the country have been enjoying stunning weather for days. Found this photo on another forum...an obscure corner of the North Island on the winter solstice.

The day started quite sunny, but has been rather cloudy (though still bright) since around 11.00 with a few brief sharp showers in the last hour or so. The maximum so far was 19.2c, at present it's 18.5c with 59% humidity.

After a rather cloudy morning, even with an odd spot of rain, it turned out very pleasant here this afternoon with good sunny periods, currently 19.1c with a light to moderate north westerly wind, 4 oktas of Stratocumulus.

disappointing overcast day, cool, 18C max, currently 17C and cloudy

Cloudy earlier but turned into a lovely warm evening with some pleasent sunshine.

Light winds, and a max of 19.c now 18.5c not falling much as it's quite humid now.

A lovely solstice evening! Shame we're on the fall again lightwise but won't be noticable for some weeks yet gladly.
