It does feel slightly less humid than yesterday, however i feel that the humidity will rise later on this evening as the air becomes more unstable. There is plenty of cloud here to today.

Just had a very light shower from what seems to be high ACcas, together with alot of virga and hazy messyness!! Doesn't feel as warm as yesterday from the direct sunshine, but is humid so making it feel very sticky. Certainly the SW of England and Southern Wales look prime for storm activity over the next 24 hours, so im in the right place then :(

Only 18c here as compared to 24c yesterday.

Lets hope the warmth and moisture from the south brings some fun.

I could do with some decent rain, my hayfever has been silly recently

I still prefer the look of tomorrow afternoon into evening:

Although even the morning has low possibilities:

Would have thought the sun would be out properly by now. More cloudy than sun at the moment. Does'nt look or feel very stormy yet.

Today, later on some thundery showers looks to develop from Accas across SW England as we see axis of warm moist plume advect NW out of France and falling heights with approach of upper trough to the SW causes lift.

That batch of showers moved through here between 09.00-10.00 and at the time it was raining there was also a continuation of low cloud/mist from first thing. However once the rain stopped the sun broke through & it was clear to see the rain had fallen from AltCas.

Much warmer and more humid now in the sunshine with a lot of unstable mid-high level cloud.

Those showers developed as the cloud moved over the mainland - check radar from 07.00 this morning - so I think we may need to watch for similar things happening during the day, rather than purely looking for cells coming out of France. On this occasion, the Channel matters little!

very topsy turvy forecasting by the beeb over the last few days. yesterday morning it was mostly the sw only that was in the firing line. now the thundery activity looks like it will be much more widespread, bringing wimbledon into the equation. still some fine tuning to do but a muddy start friday at glasto looks very likely and the centre court roof may get its first outing.

I've said many times that predicting where any storms will occur, other than a general idea of areas, is always best left to T+24 or even T+12, then at T+00 simply follow the radar and see how it develops along with sat piccs.

our alert is the best we can guide at the moment

I noticed a 70% storm risk around Cardiff area for late afternoon. Not much precipitation showing to go with it though. post-4119-1245926838_thumb.png

Good luck Jane on getting your storm, you have a high chance of getting one tonight and into tomorrow so you may even get more than one! :(

Looks like I'll have to just Radar watch as all the storms miss me one by one. :(

Thank you weather09 :) Good luck to you as well, you never know they may pop up your way :)

Current UK map of humidity levels: www.meteorologica.info/UKhumidity.htm

and dewpoints: www.meteorologica.info/UKdewpoint.htm

Perhaps it might explain why some are feeling it and others, just a few miles away, aren't.

Hoping to see a storm today, not been a very good year so far so hopefully today will give us something good, if not looks good tomorrow and onwards.

Tonight looks like a good chance for some night time storms but wouldn't surprise me if there was some stuff rumbling about later this afternoon into the evening. Camera ready anyway!

Also can see plenty of altocas here between in the cloud breaks. Good early sign.

It's raining.

Hopefully once the rain clears we can get some clearer skies.

Take a look at the satellite loop of France, show how convection is firing up in bands from West to East - wonder if its these that are to drift North towards us?
