Some towers have managed to cross northwards across the Mendips now after sitting to the south all afternoon and the sky is jet black to the east while clear to the west. Some rain shafts to my southeast as well. 23.8C.

Whsiker for you, a fag paper width for me.

I can hear faint rumbles but god damn it, telford is going to get it again!

Nooo i need it to stay dry haha going camping in just over an hour for the night, the storm is unfortunately closing in from the South East and the air quality

is really really poor now for Telford standards, its more like being in a big city like London.

From my vantage point on the downs near Banstead looking at London from Central London to North Kent the sky's are ink black. The very edge on the anvil is above my head and west of Central London looks reasonably clear. The storm looks like heading into North Kent so Sevenoaks, Maidstone etc maybe in the firing line?

BBC keep showing some dark clouds in the distance around Wimbledon, although I guess they might miss there. Its a shame, i'm 10miles south-east from there, would love to have a storm this evening.

I thought there was a separate thread for moaning-seems I'm mistaken

some of you for heavens sake read what you post before you post it then perhaps, just perhaps, you might decide not to post.

How on earth anyone is supposed to keep track of what is going on with some of the posts in here is beyond me.

There is a thread for reporting storms-NOT on here

Yeah, JH, I've been thinking about this.

Perhaps we can have a thread that has limited posters allowed to post, so that the (rank) amateur forecasters, like me, can post their thoughts, without mixing it up with the events part, as well? On a day like today, you're only going to post two sets of ideas, so it should be easy to find what the thoughts for the day are.

Of course, we still have the excellent NW convective forecasts for that extra shine

Been raining at moderate intensity with big raindrops for at least 30 minutes now, just turned heavier for a few minutes, nearly torrential intensity, LOTS of thunder in the distance, probably to the east but i haven't seen a single lightning flash yet. Weird. Guess the main storm is miles away but it's definitely very wet here now, a fair amount of rain has fallen.

Whey! Thunderstorm sliding past here - deep booms, seen some great lightning!!

Awesome! And the convection above the storm and to the sides is IMMENSE!!!

Really is a well formed and quite fierce storm!! SOOO Humid too!

There seems to be something forming off this cell slightly south east which looks interesting.

The cell over Dudley way seems to be dying a slow death.

Hmm dunno, something could happen, but I aint holding my breath

Seems like areas just north of London are getting a right hammering at the moment, showers are also slow moving so some travel disruption is certainly possible.

Nice line of heavy rain/storms in NW England aswell, can't seem to see any reports from members about whats going on up there so i assume its only heavy rain?

Lets face it John, even though I'd made an argument for it, who pays any attention to the storm reports thread these days?...I started a 'reports' thread on the 10th June as there were quite widespread storms in the midlands, there were just 2 posts, making a mockery of the reports thread.....C,mon folks, instead of posting your current weather conditions here, they should be posted in the 'todays weather and chat' thread, and the 'storm reports' thread, not that many will listen..

Constant Thunder and Lightning; Hail; Most torrential rain I have ever witnessed.

Over and out; back to the storm!

Still black and rumbling away to the West, powerful looking anvils approaching from the SE. The whole of central London is covered by this storm and its just sitting there!

Had a spurt in electrical activity earlier, some really evil deep canon booms and at least one visible bolt.
