Overnight minimum of 18.2 in Portsmouth, the highest since 27th July 2006, currently 21.5 at 10.15 after a cloudy start although the sun is breaking through now so a max of 25-26 should be attained.

Thick hill fog to start the day again which, although it lifted into low cloud more slowly than yesterday, has now cleared much more quickly. Warm with spells of hazy sunshine at present and 4 oktas cirrus, altocumulus and stratus fractus.

Temp' was 15.8c at 0800 g.m.t, it's now 17.2c. Wind is 7 mph E.

27.1c now, still bit of a breeze and haze around. The temp rise has slowed now, was at around 2.2c an hour it dropped back to 1.3c an hour, it's gone up 0.2c in the last 30mins.

Heathrow report says 27C and im near there so i should check my thermo is in an accurate pos. (ie. move it away from the ground which is still cooler than the air atm )

fingers crossed that the same happens today as Sunday

temp and dewpoint are about identical so it should break by about 1300 BST.

Looking at the Watnall ascent basic forecasting skills also suggest that by that time it should be starting to break.

Little upper cloud above so it looks as if the theory should work.

One day WHEN I get time I may do a tutorial on clearing low cloud using the skew-t for the area nearest to you?

a closer look at the Watnall ascent suggested that about 19C should see some breaks start and with 20C+ large holes so I reckon its on its way;19+C and the very first glimpse of sun-so science does work sometimes!

ive noticed blackpool airport now reporting 26c heathrow at 28c

A lovely warm and mostly sunny morning then around 11:15am a wall of cloud came and gave some light rain and its been pretty much overcast since then which is rather annoying.

Temp 21.8c, was 22.3c an hour ago.

Low cloud finally lifted (at 10am) now mostly sunny with temp now 21.6c. Certainly no 'heatwave' quite yet although the humidity makes it feel so!

My - ever hopeful - temperature sensor says its 29c, was 29.5c 30mins ago. The local MetOffice station says 26c, which is where I'd place it at present.

Just caught a bit of cloud here again, hope its not the case as the days goes on more cloud develops.

Due to the cloud my temp has gone down to 27.9c, proof to me anyway that my sensor over does the midday temps.

Thick haar (100m visibility earlier) just about lifted into dull low cloud here in Dundee. Currently 16ºC.
