morning all!.....cant sleep, far too stuffy!....Anyhoos, big increase in shower activity since I went to bed a couple of hours ago, some rather potent stuff making steady progress up the M5 corridor, probably an hour or so away from me, no sferics on NW radar, but plenty of time yet :D

edit....current radar grab for the midlands

Well i'm absolutely shattered, yet I'm determined to see something somewhere today. Though I don't think it's tonight.

However looking northish into the twighlight I can see some mild convection! Mental!

Question is, do I go to bed or not /ywan

No Thunder yet, However 8.2 mm rain has fallen already this morning, and thats since 0230hrs and its only 0510hrs, Just been outside and it feels very clammy indeed, 14.4c hopefully this might trigger some storms later this morning or early this afternoon around the North East {cameras at the ready , just in case

nigel

Shame i am working today , otherwise i would have headed off to the Pennines around Consett

Notice the blue around the coast for the North East, We could be on the edge of a very big storm this afternoon

Nothing here, and I'm not at all optimistic about our chances for this afternoon. I reckon we'll miss out again.

I've just seen we've scraped inside a Level 1 on Estofex. However it's mainly warning of heavy rain. "The moisture load, weak lapse rates and deep warm cloud depth may reduce electrification."

Showers over NW England seem to be intensifying and breaking out.
