I think most people were looking at tomorrow for all the rain delays but there's been half an hour lost already thanks to rain this afternoon.

Hooray, at last my stoppages part of the game starts. The time of the stoppage is deemed to be 4.12pm.

Not sure about the point about darkness- this country is not a bad place to play when sunset isn't until 9.30pm! They played until about 6:45 this evening in bright sunshine and even that would be a struggle in some countries further south.

How on earth did a sport that relies on it not raining and not being dark take off in England?

In what Wiltshire schools did they teach that Cardiff is in England? :D

You never know, the rumour is that the pitch has a green tinge to it so there could be something in it for the seamers. Even if Friday is rained off which looks quite likely, if the pitch is offering something for the bowlers 4 days is plenty of time. Not a common sight these days so I'm not holding my breath but it would be nice to see a test match in which the batsmen aren't dominant! They will make up some of the time on the other evenings, weather and light permitting and as Mr Data says, if there are breaks in the rain the Lord's drainage system is second to none so they will be able to get the covers off and start play quite quickly.

As I said before, the drainage system at Lord's is tremendous,it depends on if the rain is continuous and if the gap between rain spells is long enough.

Did anyone see the ground when the huge downpour struck during the July floods of 2007? The ground was virtually under water and yet they were out playing within 3 hours and this was after an exceptionally wet spell too boot.
