Sorry, back on topic. I'm not expecting things to get going until later in the afternoon.

Can see lot's of Cb's about now, although a fair bit of cloud cover, some increasing organisation too.

couple of brief downpours here, no t or l but heavy rain, max went from about 20mm p hr first to 41 then very briefly to 97.6mm at 1144, so far just under 8mm so somewhere in this area could easily have had double that amount.

In Paint:

'save as'

.jpg or .gif and then upload - they are smaller and that may be your problem.

Thanks.

BTW, we just had the edge of the shower here.

The storm to my North West is now moving away but seems to be intensifying as it does so. Haven't seen any lightning, and the sun's out here now. Really decent cracks and rolls of thunder and let's hope it's not the last of today's activity. Certainly shaping up to be an interesting day.

Might of been my eyes playing tricks on me but i'm sure i saw a small funnel cloud from the shower cloud to my east, dark cloud which had a small grey funnel type of shape coming out of it. Only lasted for about 30 seconds though so didnt had time to picture it but thats the first funnel cloud i saw around here in my life(if that if it was a funnel cloud which i'm 90% sure it was).

Just heard my first rumble whilst writing this post.

thats what i thought i seen when i was at boldon asda

Sorry, I should have qualified that - best for screen caps as long as you know the right settings, otherwise go with JPG.

zzzzzz

Someone wake me up when today is over.

I cannot imagine there are more boring places in the UK for weather than here....as bland and uninspiring as a glass of tepid water :)

Thanks for that, it would appear my eyes was not playing tricks on me then :)

The more i think about it, the more convinced i am it was a brief funnel cloud, conditions would appear to be perfect for funnel clouds to form.

A brief moderate shower has just passed through here and it's rather dark to my west.

Lots bubbling over the fells here.

These pics taken 11.50am looking east towards Clitheroe and Burnley beyond that. Intrigued by the high sheet of cloud, cirrostratus?, which has reduced sunlight and has slowly moved eastwards. Seems to be issuing from some place over Yorkshire at present. Is it part of an enormous anvil?

Stomforce Beka. If you are still at Gt Harwood just to the right of this pic, I suggest you take time out to watch the great free cloud show today from the various excellent viewpoints on Longridge Fell. Mostly accessible by car. Breathtaking extensive views from the Irish Sea to Yorks Pennines. Of course it might rain ...

Of course you and your folks may know the area well. Sometimes referred to as Jeffrey Hill. eg SD 639402, but that's only one of the parking spots.

A couple of claps of thunder around midday, accompanying a heavy shower which seemed to be centred just to the east of here.

Rain eased off now after cell moved away to north-east. A few flashes, a few rumbles and torrential rain interspersed with a shower of pea sized hail. Not a bad start :)

You'll be out of the NSC before the end of today...if not today then tomorrow for sure. I'll be keeping your place for 2010 reserved for you.

Way things are going I'll be the last sodding member of the club whistling to myself as we go into 2010

It's another frustrating day here as everything is just missing me by a few miles :)
