Attack Of The Ice During Heatwave?

Just watched something a bit unbelievable on the local news. Some bloke is saying he was sat in his garden last week and the next thing he knows a 10cm sized bit of ice falls from the sky and onto his leg causing some nasty bruising. He is saying it must have fallen off an aircraft passing overhead.

    Possible or not?

Good job it didn't land on his head or he could have ended up with much worse than nasty bruising!

I saw this reported in the Times; definitely possible and very lucky it didn't hit his head.

Yes i saw it in the paper, his leg looked very badly bruised, his doctor told him he probably wouldn't be able to walk properly for up to a month.

The Civil Aviation Authority said it was possible there was a leak in one of the plane's seals.
