After 6mm of rain last night it's now sunny with a brisk westerly wind with the odd fast moving cloud.

A min of 16.9c now 17.8c and feeling quite pleasant out there so far. Looks like a sunshine & showers job today - which certainly beats yesterdays all day grey sheet!

sunny and 18.5c , what a relief from that disasterous weather last night , it didnt even do the grass a favour as the grass is still dried out and is infact dryig out more.

Pretty wet overnight, sunny spells I think is the best to say about today so far, bit of a breeze too. I'm measuring 18.7c, I think the BBCs 25c is going to be tough to reach today, not sure where they are pulling that figure from.

Breezy, lots of cloud around and feeling relatively cool in the wind, i notice some people on weather forums happy with this mediocre mid July weather but if we had mediocre in mid January for instance with maxs around the average(7C) people wouldn't be happy because they would want sub zero ice days , why do people lower their standards alot for July, i find it very strange indeed.

It looks like places will see rain everyday this coming week and places are already exceeding their average July rainfall amounts.

I find your post very strange!

The simple answer is despite mediocre conditions in July we can still enjoy the weather it brings. For example at the moment its fairly sunny here with temps of 18C which is plenty warm enough to wear my shorts and sit outside. I certainly wouldn't be doing this in mid Jan!!

Well, around here, mediocre mid-January weather tends to be damp/wet, cloudy, windy and with daytime temps anywhere between +4 and +10'C. Add to that the observation that daylight seems only to last for about 7 hours, and things get a tad bleak. Contrast that with a 'mediocre' July day: 5 hours' or so of sunshine, one or two sharp showers and max temps between 18 and 22C - and daylight time exceeding 18 hours!

There's mediocre and there's 'mediocre', Eugene... :D

PS: Sorry for being off-topic, Mods!

A fine morning here now after a damp and drizzly start as the remains of the overnight rain cleared away. A lovely rain as well for the gardens, etc. with 4.8mm falling.

Its now fine with sunny spells, a moderate westerly breeze and temperatures already at 20.3C and rising quickly.

So much for sunshine the BBC forecasted for this morning, i haven't seen any, it's been overcast and it's now raining :(
