Lots more hard edged solid looking convection going up inti the sky here. Off to the NW it's looking very black again, could I be in for storm number 2?? :)

Reports of a Tornado being received from 1145am this morning. Anyone in the Guildford (Surrey) area seen anything or lives nearby to have a look. Lamp-Posts knocked down and some Damage in the GU4 Area!

Paul not sure about this as no local news websites or the BBC Southern Counties Radio News are running anything and they would be on it like a flash normally!

Ah okay, Just that Nigel Bolton (Think he is at the Meto) asked for more Information as they had been Contacted about Damage in the GU4 Area from a Possible Tornado.

Strange Indeed

Note to the Met Office and BBC, you said showers south of the M4 corridor would be light and isolated today - they have been beefy and frequent!

We have had 3 small-ish thunderstorms so far today (although i think 2 of them where actually 1 split).

About 12:40pm this afternoon, light rain and one very unexpected loud crack of thunder. Otherwise not much else really to report apart from the very impressive banks of Cbs on the horizon earlier on which have now all cleared from this part of the world.

Maybe next time. :)

Phil.

As I said in the storm reports thread, we had a light storm (but with squally rain and strong winds) around 13.40. As I type, a line of a couple or three cells is approaching from the west, I've been hearing thunder for a few minutes and just saw a flicker of lightning. Clouds very dark and angry-looking.

Dangerous territory this LRF for thunderstorms lark! :)

However, look at these total-total and LI values for the night of the 5th into the 6th:

MU_London_avn.png

Wolken is clouds, Schichtdicke is thickness.

Total-total values above 56 indicate a strong possibility of severe thunderstorms

Interesting huh?

Now saw CG bolt to the north - approx. 4-5 miles away. Heavy rain.

Rain now easing here, no further thunder- I can see the back edge away to my West.

Not a bad little storm & I think that makes it 7 thunder days here this month! :)

ooh i hope so :)! I can imagine it would be THE best storm ever - not only is it August 6th (same as last year) but it is also a Thursday night into Friday, something of a double whammy could give the best storm in history? :)

You might be pushing it a bit there MW, but as hope-casting goes, the panel gives you:
