During a northerly spell in January 2007, a weak weather front passed southwards overnight 23rd/24th dumping a light snowfall on the morning of the 24th. Compared to some areas, this was a minor event as is usually the case nearer the Severn Estuary you are.

I think I remember that event, I was at work in Nailsea and it started to snow. Somebody who lived in Bristol got a phone call saying it was snowing heavily.

My boss thought it was set in for the day, and sent us all home. The funny thing was, that when we started on our way back to Weston, we were heading to Clevedon through Tickenham, and it stopped snowing.

And by the time we got to Weston, there was hardly any snow at all.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
