A truly monumental day in New Zealand!

First 80F of the season with Timaru hitting 27C. But then Alexandra beats it with a jaw dropping 29C!

We haven't even reached the Spring equinox yet!

Relative humidities again very low combined with high temperatures. Temperatures over 20C combined with RHs in the single digits are going to dry things out very quickly- and add into that the hot dry winds gusting to 50 knots in places.

A sunny morning, but a few patches of Stratus fractus was noted at the beginning of observation blowing in from the NE, which was followed within 10 minutes by a sheet of Stratocumulus. The cloud sheet broke at times, enough to allow sunny spells throughout the day, maximum temperature 17.7c. Maximum wind gust 12mph E.

After all the sun of last week into yesterday today brings total low cloud cover brisker cooler east to NE wind at 14.4c after a min of 7.8c.

Still it`s the longest dry spell of the year will be after this coming week 9 days and counting with no rain.. :whistling:

Surprisingly the North Sea cloud over Norwich has broken up and become more convective, so there are some sunny intervals around at the moment.

Looks pretty dull over South Shields though:
