Seeing as it's connected by a cable, like an old-fashioned bike (or your penny farthing) speedo might have used, I imagine it must be real-time.

Yep, having read it a bit more closely I'd agree with that, in which case, if it's as robust as stated ( or as my penny farthing has been )I'd say that was a good buy.

If I remember correctly the anemometers from Casella, Negretti and Zambra etc in the 60s and 70s, which worked on the same principle, were accurate to 2% across the range and they cost then about the same as this one is now.

Hey John,

It's this one:

Its not picking up wind or rain now. I think it needs going back unless anyone could help me fix it. :)

has it got an instruction manual with it?

Yes, why?

I have read it and nothing it tells me to do works.

I'm curious to know what was wrong with it and what your mum had to do to fix it.

One other thing to remember, if you are going to site your wind sensor on the roof, ensure that it is at least 5 feet above the ridge, to prevent back eddies caused by the wind hitting the the slope of the roof.

Here is a picture of mine.

Perhaps on his station the wind direction indicator is secured to the spindle with a small grub screw and was never tightened. It happened to me with the wind cups when I first had my station.

Just a thought. smile.gif

She shoved a screw in the anoemeter and moved the main unit away from the computer. I dont know how it helped to be honest. B)

So, in summary, she followed the instructions?

Nah, the instructions told us to put the wrong screws in. The instructions were all in all - Naff.

I have read on other weather forums where people have had problems when the console is too close to the computer, worth remembering. I must say, I have never had that with my OS, WMR-200, but I have had problems with lack of reception from external sensors.
