Watching it on Sky News now.

Certainly very dangerous and i'd be worried about some structures becoming unsafe as the water rises.

A bit hard to tell, but that looks to have gone up several feet since I left the office at about 9pm. Stopped raining though, so might be ok.

that would be the worse scenario...

Like what happened in Cornwal...cant remember the name of the town..

there are other places flooding also but Sky news focusing on Cockermouth.

Got a heavy burst of rain here now, tide due in 30mins. How long till we feel the effcts of that.

Over the next two to three hours it'll be at its worst I guess - once the tide turns it will hopefully allow some water backed up in river systems to escape.

What an utterly pathetic forecast I've just watched on News 24. A passing mention of some more rain overnight for the "affected areas" before going on to say the south-east will wake up to a damp morning. What a waste of time.

Watching today's time lapse footage will be interesting though.

I have to say that the Beeb coverage of this in general (not including the comedian on BBC Cumbria with a taste for inoffensive soft-rock ballards) has been pretty feeble and that weather forecast was pitiful.

whens the high tide happen? and how much worse can it possibly get?

Any time now - don't know, but water in badly affected areas might be locked into rivers and not able to empty into the sea for the next two or three hours - depends on tide levels and wind speed/direction.

BBC Radio Cumbria reporting that Workington Lifeboat and RAF Helicopters now engaged in rescue operations in Camerton, just outside Workington.

are the BBC now on pre-recorded forecasts. or still live? it amazes me that in events of severe weather the news channel will not have live forecasts through the night. one up for Sky

its something netweather should produce when theres severe weather, like a live video stream (I would do it just to help out). Updating people on the situation, and showing the latest charts/models etc, i know they would probably not want to take the liability on there shoulders, but i would :)

if they do offer this service, i'll vote for it :)
