Showery and quite windy at times with sunny spells now and very mild again. Been quite wet at times this morning although with more rain seeming to miss this local area with other areas near by receiving more. The river im near is quite high and the river Exe seems a good 2 meters or so above normal looking at this webcam River Exe Webcam (I look at that quite often)

Just to say some extreme, out of the blue conditions are here in Nottingham at the moment. Horizontal rain, and coming down heavily, all in a 5 min burst. Some crazy weather!

Ok, anyone seen the shape of the storm crossing out into the north sea at the moment? It's obviously rotating and has some fierce precip echoes on its E flank and signs of a notch forming in the leading edge where the rotation is seeming to be centred. Not my imagination I don't think...

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
