Incredible driving rain and squally gusts here in BennyBurgess Hill now. I know the office double-glazing is nothing special, but it's whistling through at the moment! :(

Max gust in Eastbourne this morning was 51.0 mph. Not a lot by recent standards but I wasn't expecting much for today.

Twister, we just need a twister!

bit of a mixed day so far, sunshine and heavy showers, current temp 12.4c winds have picked up in the past hour, currently showing at 11mph with gusts reaching 38mph although it could be slightly higher than that as my wind doofer isn't as high as it should be.

Not too bad today compared to some recent days. It's been rather breezy at times, but it's remaind dry,

and there's been a few glimpses of sunshine.

The wind appears to have dropped atm, but I believe it's forecast to pick up again this evening.

A sunny start after light showers overnight but the sunshine was quickly blotted out from 0915 as cloud moved in from the west bringing further light showers. Generally wet from 1015 until about 1400 with periods of moderate rain and some short bursts of heavy rain though the heaviest rain was always to the north and the south of here.

A few more sunny intervals during mid-afternoon but further showers from 1430 until 1530.

It tipped it down about 15:15, then stopped and everything was calm. So I decided to take the dog out - the skies really started to darken, and the wind really picked up. Another 5 mins and the wind was screaming across the fields, all hell seemed to break loose, then not 20m away, a mighty oak came crashing to the ground - glad I wasn't any closer! 10 mins later, everything was relatively calm again - the power of nature eh?

This month is currently running at 3.1°C above average here! very wet also at 171.2mm, just 3.8mm to go to beat July and make it the wettest month so far since this weather station set up in Oct 07. That will almost certainly happen, I wonder if we can breach 200mm.

I travelled from east Yorkshire over the dales this afternoon and it was nice to see the sunshine, however, on my return I was greeted with heavy showers..

This evening has seen further heavy showers though none very long lasting. In the main not a bad day compared to what we have seen in recent days.

But many of us here in the Lake District just want a dry spell now, tomorrow is looking awful and isn't going to help with the recovery from the flood one bit, in fact I won't be surprised if we see further localised flooding again tomorrow, many rivers and lakes are still at very high levels. These are miserable times.
