Wet snow falling here with the temp' down to 0.8c. Not heavy enough to settle as everywhere is very wet after a couple of hours of sleet.

At long last a decent dry Saturday here in the Lake District, the past 5 Saturdays having been wet, so it made a good change.

Taking advantage of the dry and sunny condition I headed over to Eskdale and climbed Scafell. It was a superb days walking, the most positive aspect being the complete absence of any wind even on the tops meaning you didn't get too cold when you stopped. Views were great especially to the coast, clear blues skies in the evening and a very clear dusk.

It had been quite a cold day in much of the South Lakes temps hovering around the 4-5 degrees and quickly dropping to 2 degrees at dusk.

Evidence of snow falling to a level of about 300m last night, with general cover sticking above 600m about 2-3 inches. It is a rather last first season snow cover, normally we would expect this to happen in late oct/early nov. Still all very wintry and seasonal. After all the rain we have had, I think everyone today here in the Lake District will have been very happy with the weather.
