Just been for walk round Ballater golf course with dog. Yes its 10pm, but bright moonshine and snow cover here... Anyway, reckon Aboyne might get to -8.4, with Braemar bottoming out at -10.3, sometime between 6 and 7am.

Plenty of places in England on 1-3c presently, most of which will see and air frost later tonight, as it becomes calm as the ridge crosses tonight, so no worries Backtrack.

It could simply be your thermometer is sheltered, or too near a heat-source?

Its typical of all the station around here to be honest, mine included.

It always happens near the coast where the temperature stops falling, then near dawn it drops sharply it's a fairly normal occurrence I think :D

I think it's just irritation that it isn't -5C already ;)

Mine does that

It tends to sit stationary depressing the hell out of you, then - it rises by 0.1 maybe up to 0.3 and then sits stationary and then plummets.....

Chances are within an hour you are going to reach something like a -1.2'C/hr drop rate...

That's how the "alarmists" get their [global] warming data, apparently :whistling:

Anyway, I notice -6c now at Loch Glascarnoch weather station (which I drove past for first time ever earlier this year)

Not sure, it's on the gate away from the house where it has always been, gives really accurate readings.

Funny thing is, my other weather station always reads 0.5c higher than the other one, and about 0.3c higher than my other, all the sensors are in the same position.

1.1c now.

Naah,

I think the low temperatures are overstated for the time of year just having had a wet mild spell + the ground is generally wet or even soggy which will limit the drop, say a min of about +1 at Watford and about -6 in the glens of Scotland.

For the max, I would say the lowest max at +3 and the highest about +7 in SE - all in C

It's been clear all night and the moon's shining, but the temperature's only got down to 0.6 ° C. Why?
