Monday Night - Lowest Temperature Recorded Competition

It's been clear all night and the moon's shining, but the temperature's only got down to 0.6 ° C. Why?

Same here, i didnt even get to minus 1. Minus 0.8 was the lowest here.

I was too ambitious - dropped to -5.3º earlier. Now -4.8º with what looks like some high cloud coming over.

From a quick look, I think the coldest temperatures were about...

Large Urban: Edinburgh, -5'C

Urban: Inverness, -6'C (-7.2'C IMBY)

Rural: Aboyne, -7'C

Glens etc: Loch Glascarnoch (Front moving in, was it colder earlier?) Eskdalemuir -7'C

min here of -4.1c and now 0.9c and hoping for some front age snow but sadly i doubt it because the cloud has melted the frost and im having that feeling that you get when its cold but it rains.....

Just below -4'c here with a lovely white hoar frost, very festive looking (white rabbits)

Not quite as cold as I said but -2.1c is GFS spot on,and good enough to bring a good frost and ice after all

the rain we`ve had.

Edit:0.1c now though with a thin high veil of cloud.

Because I said I didn't think we would reach -2.5 the cold decided to proove me wrong and marched on to -3.6!

down to -1 last night defenetly, cant be sure because my weather station packed in! I'm not a happy person. Its thick ice and a bucket with water is freezen.

Temperature fell to -4.2C last night, still -0.6C now with a lot of ice remaining. 2nd airfrost of the season (the other was in mid October).

re: -8 to -10 in the Highlands I only saw quite a few places reach -7, so it's quite possible they dipped lower around 4am

Just missed an air frost in our town centre garden with a minimum of 0.2.

BTW - whatever happened to Tummel Bridge? Always remember that as being one to watch for cold nights. Has the weather station been closed or moved, or have new stations been added to the network that record colder minima?
