Snowing much heavier now... really cannot see this stopping for a good 14-16 hours. Even if things become more marginal and the snow doesn't continue to accumilate I will enjoy watching this increasingly heavy prolonged snow throughout the afternoon and overnight.

Much heavier here now and I am pleased to say it seems to be settling once more, as opposed to aiding the thaw. Temperatures dropping away slightly too... expect them to continue to do so for a considerable amount of time, before perhaps warming slightly as the back edge passes through.

Can't believe we have another 10-15 hours of this... I am back to being confident about significant accumilations. smile.gif And there was me thinking I would be looking at green grass without a few hours time! laugh.gif

Some seriously heavy snowfall here at the minute. Areas of pavement which were wet 10 minutes ago are now white. Flakes remain rather small but accumilating well now as the temperature continues to drop away. Significant accumilations expected here now.

Had thick heavy snow coming down now for about an hour without really stopping.

Still not got any higher than -0.8c so ice day seems likely.

Started to snow Sunday 01st Feb @ 12.30, started off with a few moderate showers until some heavier ones came through and deposited 3 inches overnight.

More snow showers during Monday morning which became persistent from 1pm onwards! Looks like we are right on the western edge of this band heading north. Big flakes, main roads still clear at the moment but it could be dicey after dark!

Hence we've been told that the office is closing at 15.30!

A 3 or 4 inch covering of snow here at the moment which came from showers overnight and this morning, some of which had rumbles of thunder.

Light snow at the minute.

After a few hours of horrible wet snowfall we finally have something more substancial... with dropping temperatures (at least for the time being) accumilations are once again being topped up. ;)

Flurries yesterday afternoon followed by a longer spell of snow from around 11pm last night left 1-2cms of snow this morning. Most of that had melted in the sunshine by lunchtime but we did have further flurries through the day. A prolonged shower around 3pm didn't stick but a shower which began around half an hour ago has covered the rooves again.

Heavy snow from approx 1pm led to 3cms in about an hour, since then frequent snow showers, turning very heavy again now. Snow stuck from the outset due to the max temp being -2.4C.

Hi

Heavy snow showers yesterday & this morning, and much more organised band of snow moving up from the south. Forecasters predicting 1/2 metre, and its really coming down thick & fast, drifting in the strong wind. Pic of a road near me

A level depth of 10cm here so nothing out of the ordinary, we must have had more than a dozen heavier falls in the last few years. A fair amount of drifting in exposed areas, drifts up to about 1m deep, but not comparable ( yet ) with the snowfalls of the 70s and 80s.

Light snow showers have given way to heavy, persistant snowfall. Currently have 3.5 inches of snow lying and the snow is still coming down thick and fast. The best snowfall I've seen in a while

Woke up to a 2cm dusting this morning, we've had light snow flurries all day, and then from 17:30 it snowed moderately for 2hrs giving us a 2inch covering. Good enough for us!

Heaviest snow of the cold snap falling here now, even if things turn less wintry overnight we can at least say we're going out with a bang. Gritted roads turning white now... significant accumilations in favoured spots and some drifting... a good covering on the pavements.

I'm dubious about the forecasts for tonight, but certainly expect to see probably the largest drifts in the ten winters I've been living here. Won't be seeing anything to match the drifts of 1995 though, above Hebden Bridge, which left "mother of the children" cut off for two weeks.
