First batch of cold air has arrived overnight a quite thin cloud layer of AC at 1.0c min of 0.2c and a frost.

Feels much fresher crisper air now. :yahoo:

The fog's completely gone around here...Must be a change of air-source - there's absolutely no wind!

hi and good morning

i view this chart every day and its the first one this winter thats mentioned any kind of wintery precipitation albeit sleet for normandy also because its a flight forecast for flights below 18,000ft it gives the airframe icing height down to 2000ft which is also the lowest its been this winter\autumn, i hope this is the harbinger of things to come

Just watched BBC News 24 weather and there was no real mention of any snow for the Midlands up to Wednesday. So the past winters that were about to hit us with FREEZING temps :) has decided not to knock at the UK's door?

Every time I have looked at the ensembles 850's the carrot of -8 -10 air is 5 days away and never arrives.

It like watching ground hog day only without Andie MacDowell in it :D

Although I admit it's only mid December :yahoo:

You gotta love the METO update, any showers turning to snow for eastern areas by Thursday, into the weekend the cold and snowy weather may spread to all parts of the UK, and they say it looks like the cold and wintry showers will continue into Xmas day itself... wish ti didnt chop and change so much, but it's still promising - especialyl with the current sypnotics! :yahoo:

Well, I feel a little blue this morning. Whilst washing the dishes I had BBC radio leeds on and their breif 5 day forecast was not encouraging.

Today, sunny spells with a few light showers later, Max temp 7C

Tonight, cloudy with light outbreaks of rain, 4C

Monday, damp with light rain on and off, temp 6C

tuesday, sunny spells occasional showers 8C

weds, mainly cloudy, 4C

thursday, sunny spells, feeling pleasent in light winds, 9C

Yes, I know radio forecasts tend to be very poor but.........

Whats happened?

Seems a bit far feched when veiwing the model output!

No frost here this morning, or indeed yesterday morning. Infact Friday was colder than today & yesterday.

No real cold spell as such here yet.

Not sure where they are getting the 9C from to be honest!

Shave another 6-7C off that and you'll be closer to the mark...

Anyway Wednesday marks the day where we should transition into a slightly colder airmass again. The models have certainly lessened the strength of the cold for Thursday-Friday but the models do still seem to strongly suggest a couple of days where the maxes will struggle to get too high.

the snow risk for glasgow on wed-thur has gone to hell in a hand cart no models have been consistent at all in the 6 days i have been watching the threads.

its all guess work and what on earth has happened to the forum since last night another reminder that this place should be taken with a pinch of salt

My thaughts too Kold, our reigonal radio forecasts are truley awful at best. I sometimes think they record temps against a brick wall in the sun!

Have patience!! Snow will come eventually.

You think so? The only trend i keep getting from the models is a dissapation into the ether of anything remotely wintery......
