Nice sunny day here today. It really has not been that cold over the last few days here and I have not seen ANY hard frost (although i dont get up till 8.30am)

If it Snows this far west today I will eat my hat!

Hope you guys to the east get a little something..

The latest forecast for the East Midlands from the Met Office:

Headline:

Cold with showers turning increasingly wintry along with strengthening winds.

Today:

Bright or sunny spells but also occasional showers and these turning increasingly to snow away from the immediate coast. Perhaps some icy patches in places this morning then a cold day with strengthening northerly winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Wintry showers continuing, some significant snowfall likely in places during the evening and overnight. Some clearer spells too, especially towards the west, allowing a sharp frost. Strong northerly winds continuing. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Friday:

Some bright or sunny spells but with further snow showers at times. Another cold day but with lighter winds. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Looking at the radar there's plenty of shower activity already. Bradford is currently getting moderate snow which was NOT forecast by the GFS. :D

Spot on mate.

Looking at the radar and then the GFS precip predictions suggests the shower activity is more widespread and spreading further inland than the GFS suggests.

Very much a case of a radar watching today.

Finally snowing here in Ashbourne - fairly beefy as well.

And I'd like to concur with Potent Gust's signature - come on you Villa boys

It's all gone very dark here, reports of rain 15 miles East though so we shall see.

The showers tend to lose any sort of intensity around your area, lets hope thats nt the case all day.

Some moderate snow showers now to the east of stoke heading SW wards....might well see some of the white stuff soon :drinks:

as posted earlier, these showers are making deeper inroads inland than GFS suggested...good news!

Abundant sunshine here in Northampton town. A lovely crisp winter morning with still a bit of frost remaining in sheltered spots. Temp is currently 2C with a dewpoint of 1C; and we're watching events to the north with great interest.

Real wintry mix coming down now, constantly alternating between rain, sleet, and wet snow.

I'm surprised it isn't falling completely as snow to be honest, but the situation will improve as the day goes on. What altitude are you at?

We have just had some very light snow showers here in the bedworth/Coventry area. I think it was a little sleety, if it gets any heavier it should snow no problem now!
