It seemed fine, to be honest for your area.

I think about 40 miles south of your further inland, it didn't look that great.

Game on, you up for an all nighter tonight mate? I got me beers! 6 quid for 24 bottles of carlsberg, not the greatest drink, but it wets the whistle.

Lewis

If the radar looks good later and the snow showers are settling then definitely.

Cheers for those, both added to my 'Webcams worth watching' bookmarks. Ingleborough looking very picturesque at the moment. I imagine a drive up over Ribblehead would be magnificent just now

I think once the sun sets, temps will fall like a stone, then I think all snow showers will settle..

Light patchy covering on the grass now, but the snow has stopped, plenty more to come. Forecasters where expecting an increase in shower activity from 6pm but picking up nicely already

Keep your eye on the radar, it's all about nowcasting.

Events like this are so unpredictable, expect the unexpected. Noone can give you a definitive answer.

I am indeed

It's beginning to look very Christmas card like here

The guy from nextdoor has been chopping down xmas trees

with his chain saw. He's permitted to,though, since

he's one of the estate gardeners :cold:

It's actually getting heavier as I type :D

Just starting again here hopefully some of these showers will band together to give more prolonged spells of snow.

Routes on the north york moors must be starting to get bad! no reports of problems so far though.

are we likely to get any significant snow in Chesterfield this evening?

We have had a few short light snow/hail showers this morning but nothing enough to settle

In Killamarsh we had a massive Hail/snow shower earlier today that covered everything yet when i got to Eckington there was nothing at all.

Im at my parents in Dronfield at the minute it's just started snowing again so it should be with you soon enough. :cold:

Finally had some real snow action drinks.gif

Have had two heavy showers in the past hour and now have a dusting of snow lying on the grass, tarmac and everywhere and it is not melting. Sky to the east now looking good too as does the radar.

I was losing faith this morning but now, once again, I am a believer.

Well done Lewis for not being a doubting Thomas!good.gif

No need to thank me mate,

More to come by the looks of it and i hope you and your kids can enjoy it and make some massive snowmen!! I'll be doing the some with my daughter hopefully.

The flow/orientation has changed now, if you look NE and you will see a finger shower which is fairly heft, that will now shift directly SW and hit us later, it's rather slow moving and is intensifying all the while.

Sorry if i snapped earlier at you for doubting, i can see where your coming from as 9 times out of 10 it's a let down.

Hail & snow showers getting a bit more regular this pm, we do seem a tadge south for the main shower activity, but at least we've got the first snow of the winter :yahoo: , going to be fun and games this evening for a few   .

Actually that shower out in the N sea well group of showers may be the trough that the UKMO fax charts showed pushing over us and sinking south, if that's the case expect something heavy :yahoo:
