Rapid transformation here in Leith. All white.

Frontal band looks quite narrow on the radar, snow lessening in intensity, visibility improving a little and some brightening of the sky to the north. Right now though, I'll take it !

Edit: I can see Fife so the event may already be over. Its just a question of whether we can hold onto whats fallen in the last 20 minutes. Already slushing up at pavement level but back garden has more snow than it had this morning. Net gain of a couple of millimentres LOL !

that rain band is clearing quickly

The main band went through here like a rocket :) All the better for pulling in the colder air behind.

Snowing here now, just came on suddenly. Definitely snow now :) :)

So have patience everyone.

Edit: Not snow, very big graupel. Still it's white and the kids are happy.

Looks like its raining in glasgow.

http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/AboutGlasgow/WebCams/

Then again, The urban heating may be causing that, So i would expect further away north side of the M 8? to be snowy..

Kilmacolm is quite far west, and the band is tilted WSW to ENE. Snowing now and lying readily despite the rain earlier.

Edit: In the lull straight after the rain band the murk cleared enough to see the Renfrew Heights to my west and above 1000ft it had left some snow. So the rain is marginal already.

Lightning there?? Or was I seeing things??

Temp got up to 37 and it started raining but has now turned to very heavy snow and is settling on the grass and pavements.

Exactly the same here in Bearsden. Definitely snow. It was raining 10 minutes ago then within minutes the road is white.

Like the rest of you lot all I can say is what a sudden transformation to Rain then Snow. Came out of absolutely nowhere and was an absolute whiteout for a few minutes. (I'm in Cumbernauld) Easing slightly now but wow!

Classic squall line as it passed through here, almost razor sharp transition.

From the radar and my dierect line of sight view of Fife, looks like some activity over there still. Think we're done here in Leith though.

haven't ever seen a weather system move in so fast it was heavy sleety rain then the wind got up and suddenly it was a white out within 5 min despite 15-20 of sleety rain

Aberdeen appears to be in a clear slot just now, but more clouds to the north, which I presume are the showers chasing the band. Any showers to the north of Aberdeen anyone know? And are they heading this way??

Hope our cousins in the central belt are enjoying their snow! :nonono:
