-6.1C here now. Was in Clonmel doing the last bit of xmas shopping just 2 hours ago and I've never experienced such icy conditions. Cars and people slipping and sliding everywhere! The roads are in an awful way.

I see Castlederg recorded -8.8c at 9pm (latest reading) according to the Met Office site.

Only Altnaharra in Highland Scotland is recording a colder temperature out of all the official UK weather stations. It recorded a toasty -14.8c at the same time.

This weather is truely remarkable. I have never ever witnessed such a cold and snowy start to winter in my lifetime. 3 inches of snow on the ground for the past 6 days and its frozen solid now. Looks like we will see some more snow later today which would be the icing on the cake. Currently hitting -8.5 here in Derry. Its just a winter wonderland outside, everything white. Just just note of caution. Keep an eye on our elderly neighbours as this weather can be deadly for them. Anyways enough of me ranting on and Happ Christmas to you all. Ronan

I am in Dublin. As of now, I have got absolutely no snow from this cold spell!!! :)

Despite being icy and frosty and very cold indeed, we still got rain last night and also during the day on Wednesday. :) Whatever that's about.

Good Morning Ireland and Happy Christmas, especially those of you who piled into William Hills yesterday. One single snowflake today in Belfast will return great odds of 9/4. Had some of that online betting, hopefully to pocket a few Euros!!!

I have given up all hope. I saw absolutely no snow from this cold spell and now it's ending. dry.gif It's raining now and milder air is pushing in. I'm never expecting anything ever again. I'm not wasting time and energy on what's never going to happen. mad.gif

I'm not expecting snow from this evenings system, the hype is all good, but don't think upper temps and other factors cut the cheese.

It's been exceptional here for a week now. But surely you have some snow now over the high mountains in Kerry?
