I suspect, the snow lying now could still be with us coming Christmas morning in shaded areas if the weather stays reasonably cold for the rest of the coming week.

might as well kick off this new thread with an update. Clouds are very dark, snow starting again and fingers crossed, could get a dumping from the snow gods . Keeping fingers crossed for the next few hours :)

Yes id say there is a reasonable chance of that.I noticed gfs introduced a warm sector tomorrow so i think

id prefer it if it stayed dry and cold now kev.

I hate all these multiple threads, the place has just gotten to big lately!

What ya think of that little comma thing forming to the west, deinfately some circulation in that.

is that not the centre of the low rotating? seems to be warming up now the worng sid eof marginal, i doubt that the temps will fall to low tonight with the fairly stiff wind from the west

more showers copping up here, with small ice crystals falling so still cold enough for it not to rain here at 2.2c dp 0c strong westerly wind will help keep temps up overnight dam it

Just had a quick look at the radar seems to be a whole clump of cloud in the irish sea

Over quite a large area are these just shower clouds or have we got an irish sea streamer

on the way

Thoughts anyone

Sorry for those that have not had much in the way of snowfall, but just walking outside has brought back memories of my early childhood in the mid/late 80's. 3 to 4 inches of lying snow on the side roads, and some parts that have remained undisturbed on the grass, comes up to just above your ankles if you put your foot in. Kids are throwing snowballs lol, I just managed to duck one. Sods :D Takes me back down memory lane.

Definately looks like an Irish streamer setup. Northern Western area's of Northern Ireland could get a bit of fun in the next few hours too.

Keeping an eye on that clump of cloud that has aligned perfectly nw-se it could feed through the gap between scotland and ireland staying over the irish see and make landfall some time this evening what you rekon?

Actually I think it's because they have the snow ploughs out, that's why they have closed one of the lanes.

Poor sod didn't make it. I'm presuming it was well spotted, and the occupants managed to get well away from the car before it reached it demise. Fire engines there now.

Just remembered that its Winter Solstice tomorrow (Dec 21st.) Sort of fitting that on the shortest day of the year most of the UK (and Northern Hemisphere infact) will be blanketed by Snow.

Looking at the radar there does seem to be a line of cloud headin on a se direction looks like it will hit us shortly....could do with being a little more south. Looking behind it there does seem to be alot more on its way. Wether it reaches us or not is a different matter.
