lovely clear sky now. I think that is a good thing, freeze all the snow cover so it doesn't melt tomorrow so much.

Yes, fingers crossed the skies clear and stop the thaw. 2c is the maximum for tomorrow so we definately need the surfaces to freeze tonight otherwise there will be quite a thaw tomorrow. Obviously Macclesfield will be a bit colder so you should be ok.

Temp has risen rapidly in the past 5 minutes from 1c to 1.5c now it seems to be stable again though. No sign of anything yet, hope to see some snow earlier than first expected. Nice to see the West Cumbria getting some is it still heavy james?

Does look like the showers are losing a bit of their strength, and it could be that the streamer in North Lancs, could frustratingly be out of my reach. Still I can't grumble with today. Very pleased with what I got. Those into the Higher parts of Oldham i.e. Saddleworth will have got even more probably.

Non event???? I couldn't disagree more! Heavy snow showers on and off for most of the day for me and many areas!

We can have 'non events' like that every day!

I just think this current weather is really E-W dependant- virtually all of the ppl enjoying significant snow are west of Manchester - even then - ther streamers ensure that the snow bands are really narrow - only a couple of miles wide, so you could end up with a cpl of inches in half an hour, or nothing

c'est la vie - and I still go by the thought we should be thankfull for what we have got so early in the season, may it be a marker of things to come

Had a great day at the parents in Wythenshawe with the kids as it's been snowing heavily on and off all day. Had a nightmare trip back home this evening and have returned to...drum roll...no snow! So at least we had our fix today.

Just consider that you have plenty of snow around which is likely to stay on the ground till Christmas!

Then we have two more months (at least) to look forward to!

7-8 inches here at the top of the hills in uppermill, saddleworth. snowing off and on all day. no roads gritted and as i live on a small road high up, no chance of it either. drifts up the walls are about 3 feet in places. not a chance of thawing. i have to keep going outside to knock all the snow off the bushes and apple tree as my christmas lights are on there and you can hardly see them. satellite dish wasn't working either, full of snow, had to throw hot water on it.

I can certainly believe that, because I've had 3-5 inches not far from the town centre. I was going to take a drive up to the hills today, but thought better of it lol

Yes, we're disappointed here in South Liverpool. Everywhere looked lovely this morning when we got up but less than two hours later it was slush and has all gone now. We don't get seem to get snow here until everywhere else is covered and then we only get the left overs! I can't work up any enthusiasm now for the rest of the week as it's looking pretty grim.

yes well p**sed off

Being drubbed by a big showers of 'no' here (bring back any memories?)

Where is Strato Ferris anyway, give Steeton is practically within the NW region I'm surprised he hasn't popped on here, I imagine he'll be snowed under by now?

Funny how snow crosses from west to east over the pennines but not vice versa.

Though there might be a surprise in the next few days, whilst the hilly parts will get some more I reckon that's probably the snow done for the low ground in the NW for this cold spell.

Showers seem to be devloping in the Irish Sea again.

Any chance they can make it this far inland?

Snow? where? All we got is an inch of hail, proceded by a rapid thaw, whilst 10 miles away saw 3 inches of full blown on snow!

Tuesday looks promising.
