thursdays our next chance, very similar 850s, temps and dew point as down in reading monday, and they got buried. Its not impossible for a repeat just a tad further north.

You know it won't happen though.

I'm fed up with snow now, it's let me down about 4 times in the past week, can't be bothered with following it anymore :)

Yep--shame we didn't tap into the heavier stuff but the snow has certainly been persistent. 2cm you say--perhaps a touch conservative but I'll check in the morning.

In the morning no doubt it will be different.. :air_kiss:

Yup, when I have been through with my Northants shaped heat blower to melt all the snow things will be a lot different in the morning :good:

This is weird. Heavy frost, of course, but dense freezing FOG. Temp -5.8 c and dropping.

There is also a rumour of of snow here on 24th/25th...drinks.gif

Am I in the Midlands, the SW or E Wales?cc_confused.gif

hmmm the 24th/5th is looking marginal, and there would be a risk of the current snow all melting away tbf. that is a bitter temperature though! -3.2 here, with a min of -4

Just looking in more detail at GFS 00z for Christmas Eve - it's very marginal with 2m temps around 1-2c and dps around 0c but there's a risk of some fairly persistent freezing rain/sleet/snow across the Midlands for much of the day

I think worrying about the current snow melting isnt an issue for 95% of people in the midlands because no1 has any to melt. :good: Im hoping we get a chance at some heavy or very heavy ppn which even with 850s of between -3 and -4 we get some heavy snow like down south yesterday. us lot definately deserve it.

Temperature continuing to drop over the frozen snowfields of Northants with freezing fog now forming in this rural part of the county. Current temp of -2.4c and with breeze from NE giving a windchill of -6.7c. Dewpoint -4.0c

Log burner going full tilt and the office is toasty !

Flash warning for heavy snow North Derbyshire just been issued by the Met Office from now until 18:00 today

I find it amusing that the Met Office warnings today show a nice little hole in the weatherless West Midlands! I know it's for ice, but still:

Just sums up this cold spell down to a tee.

6Z seems unrealistic, shows snow over England and wales at 6am on Xmas day, all seems too marginal to me

virtually snow free cold spell, just hope its still on for around 28th, everyonrs snow south of manchester will thaw by boxing day

At least we wont have to suffer everyone else snow pics for much longer should the 06z turn out to be right, pushed everything further north.

Can we safely say that this will be THE worst prolonged cold spell (not cold snap) for snow ever for the Midlands?

We have had stinker after stinker in the past, but virtually every other region on this stupid island has had a decent amount.

yes its going to be snow free, been just like a high pressure inversion cold spell, weatheronline looks good very low confidence but cold returning next week, although do give 80oC on boxing day
