things that make you go hmmmmmmm......14.40 radar, is it possible i could get a flake? anyone in derbyshire getting snow?

Nope. Still mainly clear skies, although the odd fluffy cloud floating about...

...I like fluffy clouds :yahoo:

Back from my adventures in the south east where everything is struggling with the snow & ice.

Heading north out of London on the train you're treated to a winter wonderland scene around Bedford & Luton with fairly deep snow and everything a shade of white.

It rapidly thins out as you hit Kettering area then near enough disappears south of Leicester.

Nottingham still has some around but nothing like down south!

Yep. There has certainly been some localised events. Not sure if you've been up the M1 of late Botty, but seems to be quite decent between jnctn 26 and jnctn 30/31.

As you go up the towards the likes of York, it actually seems to get a little thinner (although better than here still).

Certainly s/e Yorkshire seems to have done ok, as well as n/w notts.

Its like an extra slap in the face tommorow that the 5-8mm (heavy stuff) is being shown for Wales and Central Southern England and the East Midlands whilst we get 1MM!!!!!!!!!!

The latest update to the MetO forecast for the West Midlands for tomorrow reads:

"....scattered wintry showers will spread into southern areas later"

That's the nearest they've come to forecasting snow for Worcestershire this winter :)

Telford's usually the better place in the West.Mids for snow while we miss out. Whats it been like this time?

The cold spell so far here has consisted of a 5 minute light graupel snow flurry on Thursday, Sunny all day Friday, Sunny all day Saturday other than a brief fall of soft hail then 20 minutes of Rain in the evening which turned sleety before dying out.

Bone dry Sunday.

Bone dry Monday.

A 2 minute very light sleety rain shower today at 1.5c.

Disappointingly, we just had a shower of very wet snow/sleet in Ashbourne - I thought the current temps would be OK for snow, but obviously not.

Potentially some very good news for the places which have missed all the snow so far

http://null.co.uk/

I reckon parts Staffordshire and Shropshire (shrewsbury definatly) are in the 40% of some 'significant snow'

It's gong to be marginal on whether the mild or cold air winds but the potential is there, clear for all to see

Fellow West Midlands look at the latest BBC Maps and stare at your screen for 9pm tomorrow and 3am Xmas Eve...:)

Should that be right (To be fair they got Saturday night pretty well) then we should mostly see snow (Some rain/sleet to start perhaps). Could be rather heavy too. Doesent look a massive band but pretty slow moving. :)

Shame that the BBC charts on the website have zero credibility. Looks ultra-marginal as well.

It will be marginal but yesterday was quite marginal too for most.

I thought the BBC got Saturday quite well though with areas of rain over us with some snow locally which tbh was right. It isnt always the best though and i thought it didnt do yesterdays event very well.

One to watch over the next 24 Hours.

I do think it's pathetic though the amount of fuss that the BBC is making out of a few cm of snow in the south east. I mean look at their front page, if you go by the BBC then London is under feet of the stuff:

Typical SE Bias continues. If we do get the potential snowfall tomorrow evening and causes problems i bet we would get no where near the attention the SE does. Its stupid, pointless and unfair.

Won't matter much in this end of the midlands as we've got next to no snow anyway, so if it does rain, at least we'll have some ice to skate about on :)

What is going to happen tomorrow I wonder, wind will be in the favour as they turn to the SE and east for a while, uppers are higher but still cold surface air is still here, showers were all of snow even the drizzle one which gave all tiny snow grains.

Still looks cold even in the far SW on XC map.

Snow in SW Midlands?? Are we seriously thinking any snow for tomorrow? Gloucestershire is SW Midlands-ish - I had written it off as too marginal though. Perhaps it might be worth another trip up the hills. Twas beautiful up there earlier today.

At the moment it's the wrong side of marginal for much of the midlands. I'm thinking that a line across from Manchester northwards is likely to have snow.

-3c here, that is our last hope of snow before Christmas I think so lets all hope it'll get us. We're due some luck and it would go a long way to make up for the no snow if it was to be here on Xmas eve and day

God look at this

http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/365

No thank you, i'd like the snow though

Today we had the usual sunshine most of the day, except around 2pm when one of the many shower clouds lurking around the horizon moved in, got closer, closer, almost over us and then veered off to the south having dropped on our icy ground- 5 minutes of RAIN. How pathetic yet again. Why oh why is this area missing everything yet again??????
